Brian and I decided (sort of at the last minute) to bank Addison's cord blood. After a lot of research and talking to Dr. Solomon we decided on Viacord to do the collection. We liked Viacord because they are FDA approved and do research on the cord blood, which makes them more than a "bank". While we hope the cord blood never needs to be used, it does offer some insurance in just in case. The cord blood is also available for our families if needed. Dr. Solomon made a good point at our last appointment by saying right now tons of valuable information is thrown away with every discarded cord and within the next 10 years he does not think a single cord will be discarded.
