Daddy & Addykins

This is the sweetest picture. Every morning Addison gets about 100 kisses from Daddy before he goes to work... She loves it! There is just something special about a Daddy and his daughter.
Addykins is Brian's special name for her... I am babykins or wifekins and can now be called Mommykins.

2 Week Well Check

On Monday, August 3rd Addison had her 2 week well check with Dr. Sperling. Addison is a perfectly healthy girl! The good news was that since she gained the proper amount of weight, I can start letting her sleep 5-6 hours at night. We were also told to start doing tummy time so Addison's neck and upper body can start building strength. Here are her stats:
Weight: 8 Pounds (40-45th Percentile)
Height: 20.5 Inches (50th Percentile)
Head: 35 3/4 cm (50th Percentile)
We decided to go ahead and do the extended Baylor screening, which means they had to take blood. I knew this going into the appointment, but did not think it would be as bad as it was. They had to fill 8 circles the size of a nickel with her blood. She screamed to hard and it totally broke my heart. It also took the nurse FOREVER to get enough blood. I cried... a lot... and still cry when I think about it. Poor baby!
We go back on August 21st for her 1 month checkup.

Rachel's Wedding

My sister Rachel got married on August 2nd (yes I know I am seriously behind on blogging). Addison did really well during the ceremony and slept during the reception. Addison wore a cute brown polka dot dress with a pink sweater. The shoes that went perfectly with the outfit were way too big and the matching bow fell off her head. She was also the youngest person at the wedding, being only 2 weeks old!
The wedding was beautiful and very special, I am so glad we were able to attend!

Bath Time With Daddy

Brian gave Addison a bath and she loved it! When I bath her, she screams... when Daddy baths her she is silent and seems to enjoy herself. Brian is so playful with her and she just stares at him. It also helped that we put the space heater in her bathroom and heated the room to 90 degrees before bathing her. I just love all the cute daddy / daughter moments! No doubt about it, she is Daddy's Little Girl!

Striking A Pose!

Addison is so cute when you first wake her up and when she is done feeding. She always strikes the cutest pose! Here is one of her chillin' after waking up from a nap.

Princess Addison

I love this picture... she is sleeping in her swing

Nothing Like A Sleeping Baby

I have been blessed with a baby who sleeps! Addison pretty much screamed the first 4 days of her life... but after our visit with a lactation consultant and a lot of prayer, she started sleeping. The consultant suggested I feed her more during the day so she would go longer at night... I think her advice is working! I try to feed Addison every two hours from when she wakes up and do my last feeding between 8:00 and 9:00pm. For over a week now, she only wakes up around 2:00am and then again between 5:00 & 7:00. This means I am getting about 4-5 hours of sleep between each feeding! I was a bit worried that she was not eating enough, but since she gaining a proper weight, we got permission to let her go up to 6 hours at night. Such a blessing and I am so very thankful!

First Trip to HEB

Last Sunday we took our first family trip to HEB... Addison did great! She stared at the lights for a few minutes and then fell asleep. She really is a trooper and easy to take places. It is nice doing a lot of these "first" things with Brian. I was scared to go to the store alone for the first time, now I feel a little more confident.

First Skype Chat

Here is a picture of Addison's first Skype video chat with her Great Grandparents Peggy & Jim in Albuquerque. Skype is such an awesome program and will allow our family and friends to keep in touch with Addison from afar.

Working With Daddy

Last Saturday Brian had a weekend project, so I packed up the baby and we went to work with him. Addison did really well and Brian enjoyed the opportunity to hang out with us while he worked.

First Sponge Bath

Here is a picture after Addison's first sponge bath. She screamed pretty much the entire time because she was cold and I took way too long to accomplish everything. I followed the instructions in my "Baby Owner's Manual" book... it seemed so much easier when we practiced on the doll in the birthing class.

1st Pediatrician Appointment

Brian and I took Addison to her first pediatrician appointment the Wednesday after she was born. Addison gained one ounce since leaving the hospital and looked great!
Stats:
Weight: 7lbs 6oz 45th Percentile
Height: 20 inches 60th Percentile
Head Circumference: 34.5cm 50th Percentile
I talked to Dr. Sperling about my issues breastfeeding and she referred me to a lactation consultant. The consultant was a miracle worker and we have been feeding great ever since.
Addison was exhausted after the appointment, too cute!
